Priced Out?

November 17, 2011

Presented in partnership with the LeBow College of Business, our distinguished panel includes:

-Tom Moon, an author and former Philadelphia Inquirer (Moderator)
- Sean Agnew, concert promoter, founder of R5 productions a
-Josh Baron, co-author of Ticketmasters and editor of Relix;
-David Cooper, founder of Pearl Jam tour ticketing, ETM, FT&T and Direct to Fan;
-Jim McCafferty, Ticketing Director of the The Mann Center for Performing Arts.

Josh Baron and Dean Budnick, two editors of the rock and roll magazine Relix, published the book Ticketmasters: The Rise of the Concert Industry and How the Public Got Scalped In the summer of 2011.  The book examines the rise of ticketing for live events and how ticket prices have risen dramatically, especially in the last decade. Music concert tickets sales are an important revenue source for artists and records labels in today’s age of declining recorded music purchases. Following the discussion, which will gleam topics from the book as well as look at how the industry got to this point and where it’s headed, Josh Baron will sign copies of Ticket Masters. The event is free and open to the public.
