Fashion Scholarship Fund Awards Scholarships to Three Design & Merchandising Students
January 07, 2022
Design & Merchandising (D&M) majors Eli Eisenman, Virginia Granato, and Taylor Kim are recipients of scholarships from the Fashion Scholarship Fund in 2022. This year, 123 students from across the country were honored with scholarships. Students were challenged to submit case studies focused on real issues in the fashion industry today.
Eli Eisenman’s case study, the Bonobos Hybrid Work Collection, focuses on clothing for a new hybrid work lifestyle where business professionals will be working from home some days and going into the office on others. Eli, a D&M Ambassador and Fabric Assistant at Urban Outfitters, has advanced to the final round of the case study competition. As one of four finalists, Eli received an additional scholarship reward and will present his case study before a panel of industry judges. The top winner will receive an additional $10,000 award.
Taylor Kim’s case study, Levi’s x Target: Antiviral Denim, imagines a combination of style and hygiene inspired by pandemic concerns. With the help of textile advancements, select denim manufacturers are now able to apply a treatment to denim fabric that makes it antiviral. Through a marriage of a trusted denim brand and exclusive retailer, the collection leverages existing partnerships, consumer loyalty, and customer values.
Virginia Granato’s case study, The North Face Cycle Series, integrates technology, immersive experiences, and brand identity through an exclusive collection of sustainable cycling gear and an engaging retail strategy.
The winning students receive scholarship funds for tuition and other expenses, an invitation to join the FSF Mentor program, and access to internships and job opportunities through FSF partner companies. Scholarship recipients will be honored at FSF LIVE, the 85th Annual FSF Awards Gala, on April 11, 2022 at The Glasshouse on 12th Avenue in New York City. The event will celebrate the legacy and impact of Virgil Abloh and honor Geoffroy van Raemdonck, CEO, Neiman Marcus Group.
