Holiday Shop
December 02, 2015
Just in time for the holiday spirit, the d&m shop is popping up this week in the URBN Center Lobby (3501 Market St.), including on Thursday, December 3 (2:00pm – 5:00pm) and Friday, December 4 (10:00am – 2:00pm). While the shop is also open online year round, its pop-up hours provide an opportunity to peruse a bounty of new items made by Drexel faculty, staff, students and alums, as well as by local artists, ranging from holiday items to apparel and home décor. Operated by Design & Merchandising students, the shop features hand-crafted, limited edition items and supports both emerging and established artists.
The shop now offers the full-color viewbook celebrating Immortal Beauty, the current exhibition of 250 years of style from the Robert & Penny Fox Historic Costume Collection. New holiday items include unique card sets and home items, like these pine cone votives and laser-cut ornaments, as well as a line of small-batch, handcrafted soaps. They’re also featuring new jewelry and high-end apparel items.
The shop serves as a retail learning laboratory for D&M students, who gain skills in business management, product and social content development, business operations, customer service and visual merchandising. Interdisciplinary collaborations for product, marketing and sales strategies have allowed the program to network and build relationships throughout the Drexel community and beyond, while embracing innovation and design for products going to market.
