Fashion Design ’19 alum Zinan (Gina) Guo won first place in the 12th Annual Supima Design Competition on September 5 at the cusp of the 2019 New York Fashion Week. Gina’s five-piece capsule collection titled ‘White Skeleton’ debuted at Pier59 Studios alongside seven other students from different design schools across the US. The collection was inspired by her concern for the disappearance of coral reefs due to bleaching in Australia.
Supima, the marketing brand representing American-grown Pima Cotton, hosted its 12th annual design competition on September 5, 2019 at New York Fashion Week. Eight students from different fashion schools across the US showcased their five-piece capsule collections made with Supima fabrics at Pier59 Studios. A panel of fashion and media professionals judged the design competition, selecting a winner to receive a $10,000 cash prize. Finalists are assigned mentors through each university and work closely with Supima's CFDA Award-winning designer Bibhu Mohapatra. From New York, the designers will travel to Paris and showcase two of their looks at Paris Fashion Week.
