Alphonso McClendon at National Conference

Alphonso McClendon, Fashion Design Professor, presented the paper "Like Gods: Aesthetics of the Twentieth-Century Jazz Dandy" at the Popular and American Culture Association National Conference 2014 in Chicago, IL. As Chair for the Fashion, Style, Appearance, Consumption, and Design area, he organized 16 panels with 56 internationally diverse scholars at this year’s conference. Professor McClendon also recently published the article "American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition" in The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture. The article examined the role of fashion, jazz and literature during the period of the constitutional ban.
