Interior Design Junior, Justin Lee was awarded second place in the national Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship competition. The Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship awards students who are enrolled in U.S. not-for-profit CIDA-accredited interior design programs with scholarships and summer internships. This scholarship was established as a memorial to Don Brinkmann, who is described by Gensler as “...an inspirational and gifted interior designer who personified the essence of design, vision, and leadership....” and it is in this spirit that this scholarship is awarded. Justin may select from all global Gensler offices in which to do his internship.
Justin submitted his commercial studio project in which he designed a co-working and office environment immersed with VR, AI and MR technology. Divin is a cutting-edge corporation which develops communities in space. Current trends in human performance in workplace settings, considerations of the future of work, and incorporation of the WELL Building standards resulted in a strong office design as well as the design of custom work pods and wayfinding techniques which utilized a new inclusive universal language. In addition to the project submission, Justin had to submit a video which was created by Film and Video alum Devon Voelkel.
