Join the Drexel University Westphal College of Media Arts & Design for a symposium that examines health, urban living and design through presentations, panel discussions and a design sprint with the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation. The free, day-long symposium will take place at Westphal College’s state-of-the-art facilities, the URBN Center (3501 Market Street) and URBN Annex (3401 Filbert Street), on October 11, 2019 from 9:00am to 6:00pm.

9:00 - 9:15am: Breakfast + Symposium intro
9:15 - 10:15am: Alliance Panel: Health and Housing: Panel that explores how housing and health pipelines are currently intersecting
10-15 - 10:30am: Coffee break
10:30 - 11:30am: Jill Pable, Design Resources and Housing Insecurity Talk
11:30- 11:50am: Kick off Design Sprint
12:00 - 12:15pm: Lunch
12:15 - 2:45pm: Design Sprint with Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation
2:45 - 3:15pm: Reconvene with coffee in URBN Annex Lobby to display and discuss sprint outcomes
3:15 - 5:15pm: Design Flash Talks on technology, living and community
5:15 - 6:00pm: Final Q and A with remarks and short ending panel of featured groups
6:30 - 8:30pm: Travel to Cherry Street Pier for Design Research Student Posters

Design Research is an exciting field, with many possibilities and a range of practices, especially in Philadelphia's dynamic urban environment. The Design Research Symposium will highlight the diverse work of Drexel design researchers and their collaborators in relationship to our urban living environment. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine the impact of this type of work on research in technology, health and the built environment, and consider where their own interests might fit into this exciting field.
