Tiny House REVEAL

We're approaching the big moment we've been waiting for as Drexel's Tiny House reaches completion. Before our Tiny House moves to Greensgrow West, where it will be utilized as a small education center, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the completed house during a reveal to the public on Wednesday, February 22 at 4PM in the URBN Center's parking lot.
Following the reveal, we'll move to the Pearlstein Gallery to hear from the contributors who made this project possible; Powelton Village resident Hanley Bodek, who made the Tiny House Challenge possible through his generous gift; Department Head of Architecture, Design & Urbanism Alan Greenberger and former Department Head Rena Cumby; Architecture Professor Tim Kearney and Ryan Kuck, Program Director of Greensgrow West.
For the past year students from the diverse programs in our Architecture, Design & Urbanism classes have worked with Professor Kearney, AIA, Principal of CuetoKEARNEY Architects and co-founder of their affiliate Home Sweet Tiny Homes, learning about the tiny house movement, urban farming, permaculture, and the design and construction of a trailer-based tiny house. "Tiny houses have obviously struck a nerve with many people. I think it is a complicated mix of economic, philosophic and cultural reasons that people find appealing. So, the first thing is that they look like a house rather than a trailer or RV," stated Kearney in a recent Modern Builder + Design Magazine feature, "The design process of a tiny house is a constant struggle with inches and the perception of space. Emphasis is often and correctly placed on the clever use of multi-purpose elements and spaces."
