Brent White, an assistant teaching professor in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, was featured in a Feb. 27 Philadelphia Citizen story about his upcoming performance of a suite of music he composed that was inspired by his outreach and teaching at the Philadelphia Detention Center. Photography facilities manager Michael Froio's selection of his photography portfolio was purchased by The Library of Congress for their Print & Picture collections. The Library of Congress purchased photography from the collection titled From the Main Line, which examines the remains of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the context of the American landscape.

Kimberly McGlonn, PhD, an instructor in Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, was featured in a Feb. 23 MONTCO.TODAY  story about her business Grant Blvd, activism through fashion and the launch of her new store, Blk Ivy, focused on vintage clothes from the Civil Rights era. June He, assistant professor of Product Design, will speak at four upcoming conferences: Open Conference: March 21-23. Alexandria, Virginia (D.C. Retail & Merchandising professor Joe Hancock’s latest book, Fashion Brand Stories, Third Edition, was favorably reviewed in Broad Street Review.

Associate director of the Pearlstein Gallery Leah Appleton opened their their latest curatorial project, Lesbian Lands, at the stonewall museum and archive. Learn more.

Students & Alumni

The Drexel University Gospel Choir held an alumni concert to celebrate its 45^th Anniversary on March 10. The event was featured by CBS3, Yahoo News, and MSN Video.

Rev. Dr. Stephen L. Albert (Architecture ‘76) published his 20^th book Ignore the 'NO!' Empower Yourself to Do the Impossible. The Rev. Dr. Albert and his wife Rev. Dr. Abigail Albert co-founded the All Faith Center, an interfaith community worship center in Poway, CA. They are now semi-retired from their church work but remain active long-time leaders in the region's interfaith community. Link to Article

Lindsay T. McDowell (Entertainment & Arts Management ‘16) was promoted to agent at the Wasserman Music, the full-service, artist-first agency. Ms. McDowell joined the company in 2018 where she works with the Performing Arts Center team. She will continue to work with a variety of jam bands, bluegrass and Americana music groups, including Punch Brothers, The Wood Brothers, moe., Allison Russell and Kitchen Dwellers. Link to Article

Patrick Traver, AIA, NCARB (Architecture ‘11) joined Arcadis DPS Group as the process architect subject matter expert. In his new role, he will serve as a top-level technical or functional expert, often working on multiple projects and programs that support clients in the global life sciences market. Mr. Traver has close to 20 years of experience in the design and construction field, 15 of which are in the development of cGMP manufacturing facilities and operations. Link to Article

Current MS Interior Architecture students Celia Armstrong, Joanne Huynh, and Andrew Scheetz were selected as Grand Winners of the 2022-23 IDEC Student Design Competition for their entry “Project Oasis,” completed in Ada Tremonte’s course in fall 2022. Congratulations Celia, Joanne, and Andrew!

Current Fashion Design undergraduate student Sam Harper was profiled in Teen Vogue for her viral collection “Sweats by Sam.” Link to story

Roni Lagin (Graphic Design ‘00), the senior designer manager at Equinox in Redwood City, CA, was recognized on Graphic Design USA magazine's "People to Watch" list. Mr. Lagin is a multidisciplinary designer, artist, and creative director who has over 20 years of experience in the design industry.  Link to Article 

Colin G. Stewart (Film & Television ‘20) served as the regatta director of the second annual South Jersey Indoor Rowing Championship in Ocean City, NJ. Mr. Stewart is the assistant coach of girls crew at Ocean City High School. Link to Article 

Mary Carlisle, EdD (MS  Arts Administration ‘05) was promoted to associate professor and was awarded tenure at Converse University. She serves as program coordinator for both the undergraduate Studio Art and Arts Administration programs. In addition to her academic career, Dr. Carlisle maintains an active studio practice, and her series of works, including "Work = Worship, Remnants, Tracing Time, and Assembled Memory," have been exhibited at galleries across South Carolina, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, and Florida. She is an active member of the National Art Education Association and the local South Carolina Art Education Association. Link to Article

Kelsey Fain (Photography ‘08) was hired by Ma'aM Creative to produce and photograph a series of Bloody Mary cocktails for the latest edition of the St. Regis line of hotels' book titled The Bloody Mary. Additionally, Jess Lawinski (Photography ‘06) also worked on the project, sourcing and styling the set backgrounds, glassware and miscellaneous props used in the photography. 

Michael Fleming (Photography ‘03) was appointed as a US representative and event manager for Architects of Air. Mr. Fleming was most recently the fine art series program coordinator at the University of North Texas.

Rachel Schmidt (Photography ‘22) joined Wright Auctions in Chicago as a photography assistant. Wright Auctions is the industry's leading auction house specializing in 20th Century art and design. 

Rachel L. Wisniewski (Photography ‘16) had several of her photographs published with the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, NPR, and a recent publication by Natural Geography's article titled "Inside the Curve." 

Lori Zimmer (Photography ‘01) published the second novel in her Art Hiding series, Art Hiding in Paris. She also signed a contract to publish another book Not Your Muse that spotlights women in the arts who have been mislabeled "muses" by history rather than for their accomplishments. Link to Article
