May 10, 2018
Dee Nicholas, professor and director of the Design Research program, and William Mangold, professor and director of the Interior Architecture program, presented a paper and workshop developed from a graduate studio they co-taught the previous two years. The course emphasizes community and cultural aspects of design and the paper was entitled “Fostering Student Engagement with Issues of Culture and Community.” The presentation was given at the annual conference of the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) and included a workshop demonstrating some of the engagement methods utilized in the course, drawing upon research by the LUMA Institute and John Ziesel.
