In the 2016 rankings for America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools, DesignIntelligence just named our undergraduate and graduate Interior Design programs among the top ten in the country. These honors are the outcome of extensive surveys of both academic and industry leaders from across the U.S., and top schools were chosen for their ability to prepare students for success in the profession as well as for designing a sustainable future. Along with the rankings, DesignIntelligence also named America’s 25 Most Admired Educators for 2016; our congratulations to Ada Tremonte, NCIDQ, IDEC, Interior Design professor and program director for our undergraduate program, who was selected for this wonderful recognition.

DesignIntelligence conducts annual rankings of top architecture and design schools on behalf of the Design Futures Council, a global network of design, product, construction and real estate leaders who explore global trends, changes and opportunities for innovation.

Among those surveyed for the 2016 rankings research were more than 4,000 students, as well as deans and chairs from more than 100 programs around the country. Additionally, professional firms were surveyed on the preparedness of the students they hire as well as skills assessments based on cross-disciplinary teamwork, theory, sustainable design practices, design skills, research, construction methods and materials, computer applications and communication skills. This is the fourth time that our graduate program has been ranked among the top ten schools in the nation.

In the annual report, DesignIntelligence honors excellence in education administration by naming 25 exemplary professionals in these fields, using extensive input from thousands of design professionals, academic department heads, and students. Professor Ada Tremonte was selected for her ability to inspire her students to think outside of the box, and for being an innovative and engaging educator who brings out the best in her students. She was chosen alongside faculty from universities such as the University of Pennsylvania, MIT, Princeton University, Harvard University, Virginia Tech and Cornell University.
