Cameron Silver, king of vintage, author and fashion director, is a multi-faceted leader in the fashion and retail industry. Named one of Time Magazine's 25 Most Influential Names and Faces in Fashion, Silver is co-founder of Decades, Hollywood's premiere vintage couture boutique since 1997, influencing trendsetting clientele Chloë Sevigny, Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rhianna, and Lady Gaga, to name a few. Pulling from Decades, Silver has dressed red carpet appearances for the Golden Globes, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the Academy Awards. In 2015, Silver launched H by Halston, a line of chic, versatile clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories on QVC, a visionary digital retail leader with headquarters nearby in West Cheter, PA. Silver starred in a docuseries centered on Decades and their seemingly endless closet of Givenchy, Balenciaga, Chanel, and other coveted designers.  Silver will speak to his unique perspective and career in the fashion industry on Thursday, November 9th in the URBN Annex Screening Room, followed by a book signing.

During his lecture, Silver will make observations on his dynamic partnerships with the legendary Halston label and QVC, while remarking on the future of retail and fashion inclusive of the shared economy, sustained fashion and fast fashion, brand communication and social media. While on campus, he'll critique evening wear designs of freeform draping in satin-faced silk organza from the FASH 353/550 Fashion Design IV of Fashion Design Senior & Graduate students. "Cameron Silver's lecture will provide critical insight on how upcoming fashion design and merchandising graduates will need to navigate the fashion industry with shifts in how consumers engage products, brands, and spaces of consumption," noted Alphonso McClendon, interim Department Head for the Department of Design.
