UHC Researcher Awarded the Cotswold Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship
January 28, 2022
Josiah Kephart, PhD, MPH, postdoctoral research fellow at the Urban Health Collaborative, was recently awarded the Cotswold Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Cotswold Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship is intended to foster the career development of Drexel University postdoctoral researchers who are pursuing a career in academic research and are seeking long-term employment at an educational or research institution. The fellowship will provide a $50,000 award for the duration of one year.
Dr. Kephart’s project, “The impacts of climate-related extreme flood events on health and health disparities in Latin American cities,” will examine the associations between historical flood events, social inequality, and mortality in 326 cities in Latin America. This project will be one of the first regional analyses of the long-term impacts of flooding on cause-specific mortality and will provide the foundation for Dr. Kephart’s future research examining how climate-related disasters impact health and contribute to health disparities.
