Student Life Impact Awards
Presented by Student Life, the Impact Awards honors Drexel Dragons who have made positive contributions to our Drexel Community. Celebrated each spring, Impact Awards are presented to deserving candidates who meet the corresponding award criteria. We are proud to announce our 2018 award winners:

Alana Maddox Student Friendship Award
This award is dedicated to the memory of Alana Maddox (1993–2017), a committed and active Drexel student who was a friend to all. It is presented to a Drexel undergraduate student who exemplifies the true meaning of being a "good friend" by lifting spirits, providing optimism, and inspiring people around them. To be considered for this award, applicants and nominees must have been a member of at least one student organization, where their core responsibilities include encouraging other students to participate in student life. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship award of up to $500.
BOLD Student Organization of the Year Award
This award is presented to a recognized student organization that has shown outstanding commitment to organization goals, made an impact in the Drexel community, and has excelled in program planning, financial management, and leadership development of its members.
Chuck Vincent Servant Leader Award
This award is dedicated in honor of Chuck Vincent, COE Class of 1957, founding member of the Drexel Veterans Alumni Network, and supportive alumnus of the Office of Veteran Student Services and Drexel Veterans Association. It is given to a Drexel undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates exceptional leadership, participation, advocacy, and commitment to cultivating a military-friendly campus community. The recognition may be awarded to a student-veteran, military family member or dependent, or nonmilitary-affiliated supporter.
Dean's Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service for Graduating Seniors
Presented to a graduating senior for outstanding leadership and service to Drexel's campus life and the surrounding community, while maintaining academic excellence exhibited by a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship award of up to $1,000.
Dr. Jacquelyn West-Ford Award for Civility, Humanitarianism and Social Justice
This award is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jacquelyn West-Ford (1960–2007), Senior Associate Dean of Students. It is presented to a Drexel undergraduate student who demonstrates exceptional leadership in cultivating civility and humanitarian efforts on campus and in the community through dedicated membership and contributions to religious and spiritual life and/or social justice organization.
Drexel University Black Alumni Council (DUBAC) Scholarship
The DUBAC Scholarship has been established to provide academic financial support for a Drexel undergraduate student leader demonstrating involvement in campus activities and excellence in academic performance. To be considered for this award, applicants must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship of $500.
Ian L. Alexander Outstanding Commuter Student Award
This award is presented to any Drexel undergraduate or graduate student living off-campus who has made significant contributions to the quality of life for Drexel commuter or transfer students during the academic year. This student is dedicated to learning in and out of the classroom, and demonstrates creativity and determination in their work or cocurricular activities towards the goal of enhancing the commuter and/or transfer student community. In addition to campus/community engagement, this student displays a strong commitment to academic achievement and is a proud member of the commuter and/or transfer student community at Drexel.
John W. McGarrigle Alumni Servant Award
This award is dedicated in memory of John McGarrigle, Commerce & Engineering class of 1969 and MBA class of 1973, a deeply dedicated member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and faithful University volunteer and recruiter. It is presented to a Drexel alumnus who emulates John's bold spirit and outstanding commitment to serving students. Recognition preference shall be given to an individual who demonstrates a personal quality that shows a willingness to get — and stay — involved, and somebody who has served a student organization for at least five years in a leadership, advisory, or volunteer position.
MarcDavid Foundation LGBTQ Scholarship
The MarcDavid LGBTQ Scholarship has been established to provide academic financial support for an undergraduate Drexel student demonstrating leadership and advocacy in the LGBTQ community at Drexel or the LGBTQ community at large. Award preference shall be given to students with financial need, but candidates' demonstrated leadership and advocacy in the LGBTQ community will be the primary consideration. This award comes with a monetary scholarship of up to $3,000.
Marina Sigmund Pearl Award for Hope and Confidence
This award is dedicated to the memory of Marina Sigmund (1996-2016), a Drexel nursing student with a vibrant personality and sense of loyalty. As the pearl symbolizes wisdom acquired through experience, and its energies known to help create new beginnings and fresh starts, this award is presented to a full-time undergraduate student who has encountered personal hardship and faced adversity with courage and determination. Preference will be given to a student studying in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship award of up to $1,000.
New Student Organization of the Year Award
This award is presented to a recognized student organization that has been active for less than one year (initial recognition by November 2016) and whose achievements illustrate a dedication to the campus community and toward making a difference in the lives of Drexel students.
Outstanding Student Organization Program of the Year Award
This award is presented to a student organization that has planned a creative and well-publicized event that made an impact on the Drexel community.
Rising Leader of the Year Award
This award is presented to an undergraduate student considered an emerging leader who has attended Drexel University for less than two years and has exemplified dedicated involvement and commitment to enhancing campus life. The recipient must be in good academic standing demonstrated by a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Student Leader of the Year Award
This award is presented to an undergraduate student who has exhibited outstanding leadership and vision and has exemplified dedicated involvement and commitment to making a difference in the lives of Drexel students. The recipient must be in good academic standing demonstrated by a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award
This award is presented to a recognized student organization advisor who has served as an outstanding mentor, impacting the growth and development of student leaders and organization members.
