    Come learn about scholarships to cover undergraduate study/co-op abroad - up to $8,000 in funding!

    The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship enables undergraduates with financial need to study or co-op abroad by offering up to $8,000 to Pell grant recipients. Preference is given to students from diverse backgrounds.

    The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides grants of up to $7,000 to support U.S. undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program's goal is to increase the number of Americans with firsthand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.

    This info session will provide an overview of the awards, application process, and tips for constructing a competitive application.

    Study Abroad Staff:
    Lisa Shen – As a first-generation Asian American student, Lisa studied abroad in Rome, Italy during her undergrad. After graduating college, she moved to China for two years to work. Now, as a Study Abroad Advisor and Communications Manager, Lisa loves to talk to students about going abroad, especially to places she’s been!

    Andrew Sandefur – Andrew is a recent Temple University grad who studied abroad in Johannesburg, South Africa during his time there. After graduating college, Andrew served with Americorps for 10 months and traveled to vastly different parts of the United States – which is practically like going to another country!

    Are you interested in becoming a globally-minded citizen? Become a Global Engagement Scholar! The Global Engagement Scholar (GES) program offers a unique opportunity to students who are internationally minded to increase their global awareness and intercultural competence. The program provides students with the necessary structure to document and connect a wide variety of global experiences during their time at Drexel University. GES students are paired with a faculty and staff mentor during their time in the program. Achievement of the scholar designation involves a combination of relevant coursework and co-curricular activities, including study or co-op abroad, foreign language study, and participation in globally oriented campus organizations and events.
