MD/PhD Dual Degree Program How to Apply

MD/PHD PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCEDURE

For 2025-2026 admission cycle, the MD/PhD program will only accept applications from Drexel's matriculated MD class as transfer students into the MD/PhD program. No external application for direct entry into the MD/PhD program will be accepted. MD students interested in applying to this internal-only program should select the MD/PhD option on the secondary application.

Current first-year Drexel MD students who are interested in completing an MD/PhD degree are invited to apply. These students will join the MD/PhD program as first-year PhD students in the fall after completing the third year of their MD program. Students will complete their PhD training before returning for their last year of medical school.

Applicants interested in transferring into the Physician Scientist Training – MD/PhD program should apply by emailing the program administrator at CoM_MDPhD@drexel.edu with the following information:

  • Tuition waiver for all years of the PhD program.
  • A competitive stipend ($36,000 annually for AY25-26) and a health insurance allowance for all years in the PhD program. There is no stipend for any years of MD training.
