Collaboration and Funding Opportunities
The Urban Health Network for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC-Urban Health) facilitates opportunities for exchange and collaboration between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. Funding is also sometimes available for regional researchers to attend network events, with preference given to those at early stages of their careers.
All who conduct urban health research or who work in other sectors related to urban health in Latin America and/or the Caribbean are welcome to request to join the network.

The SALURBAL project is currently seeking proposals for innovative studies to evaluate the health and environmental impacts of policy interventions in Latin America.
Projects of various sizes and scopes will be considered but all must address policies and interventions in Latin America with the potential for health and environmental impact.
Proposals in the four thematic policy evaluation areas identified by SALURBAL are of particular interest:
- mobility and emissions control
- comprehensive urban development policies
- reduction of social inequalities
- and promotion of healthy behaviors
Policies may be at the neighborhood, municipal, state, or national level, if the potential for health and environmental impact within cities is clear.
Letters of interest will be accepted on an ongoing basis until March 15, 2018. Applicants with approved letters of interest must submit their full proposals no later than April 15, 2018.
The full Request for Proposals is available for download in English, Spanish, and Portuguese:

Events and Networking
LAC-Urban Health hosts biannual in-person meetings. Find more information on upcoming meetings on our upcoming events page.
Beginning November 2018, the Salud Urbana en América Latina (SALURBAL) project will host an annual Knowledge-to-Policy Forum to bring together policy-makers, decision-makers, researchers, and academics from the region. This event will focus on exchanging actionable knowledge related to urban health and identifying ways this knowledge can be incorporated into global, regional, national, and local urban health agendas and policies.
Additionally, in upcoming project years, SALURBAL will host two Latin American Urban Health Symposia. Each symposium will be an opportunity to share policy-relevant research findings and lessons learned from the region, discuss evidence-based policies and interventions that have been proven to improve health in cities, and network with experts from across the region.
