Network Associate Director Provides Testimony on Cashless Store Ban

Kevin Thomas Jr., Associate Director of Operations and Asset Building for the Building Wealth and Health Network, was featured in an article by the Philadelphia Inquirer for providing testimony on cashless stores. The bill, under consideration by Philadelphia City Council, prohibits stores from refusing to accept cash or charging cash-paying customers a higher price.
In his testimony, Thomas says, "as a city, we cannot let the businesses disguise discrimination as efficiency. We must support the ban on cashless businesses and push the business community to innovate new pathways for everyone to be included. Even those with just a dollar to spend."
The bill has was passed on February 14, 2019.
