You Have a Health Advocate 2-in-1 Benefit

January 2012

How well do you understand your health insurance coverage? What do you do when you need to find a physician or specialist, are confused about how to file a claim, or need to determine the best treatment for a condition? Navigating through the healthcare system can be a frustrating and confusing process. Wouldn’t it be great if we could each have our own personal guide through the system?

Need to talk to a licensed EAP counselor, though telephone or by email, 24/7, to help you learn coping skills for stress, depression, parenting issues, substance abuse and other temporary setbacks?

Say hello to your Health Advocate Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Work/Life benefit, a free service for benefits-eligible Drexel University and Drexel University College of Medicine faculty and professional staff.

Using Health Advocate is simple: just call the toll-free number at 1-866-799-2728 and you will be assigned a Personal Health Advocate (PHA) to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether your issue can be answered in one call or requires extensive follow-up, your PHA will remain on the case until it’s been resolved. If you need EAP services, a Work/Life specialist can help you locate support resources, from childcare and eldercare to legal help.

Health Advocate is available for benefits-eligible faculty and professional staff, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. The list of services and areas that Health Advocate can address is extensive, ranging from help with hospice care arrangements for a family member, handling referrals to a health care specialist, Medicare questions and personal and work/life issues.
