Dean Diez Roux Presented With Al Día Award at Celebration of America’s Hispanic Heritage

On Friday, September 24, 2021, AL DÍA News hosted its sixth annual celebration of America’s Hispanic Heritage at their Archetypes event at the Union League of Philadelphia. 

Ana V. Diez Roux, MD, PhD, the Dana and David Dornsife Dean of the Dornsife School of Public Health and Director of the Drexel Urban Health Collaborative (UHC), was recognized among 10 outstanding Hispanic professionals to receive the 2021 Ambassador Manuel Torres Award. She was the honoree in the health category and is being recognized for "her work on neighborhood health effects, [which] has been highly influential in the policy debate on population health and its determinants."

AL DÍA News welcomed 200 guests to witness 10 representatives being honored for contributions in their respected fields of education, philanthropy, entrepreneurship and several other categories.

Drexel University colleagues of Dean Diez Roux attended including Paul E. Jensen, PhD, Executive Vice President and Nina Henderson Provost; Brisa N. Sánchez, PhD, Dornsife Endowed Professor of Biostatistics at Dornsife; Leslie McClure, PhD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Dornsife; Ana Ortigoza, MD, PhD, Senior Research Scientist II at the UHC; Rogelio Miñana, PhD, of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Tina Llyod, MA, of the LeBow College of Business.
