Yasin Khan Receives Critical Language Scholarship

Second-Year MPH student Yasin Khan was awarded a prestigious Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) from the U.S. Department of State.
Yasin hopes to use her Urdu language skills when working on gender based violence and women’s health in Lucknow, India this summer. Yasin served in AmeriCorps’ City Year Louisiana and has been working on violence prevention for several years. Most recently, she completed an internship at UCLA’s Labor and Occupational Health Department and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) conducting research on workplace violence.
The Critical Language Scholarship Program offers fully-funded summer institutes in 13 critical languages.
