Two SPH Alumni Make Drexel 40 Under 40
March 28, 2014
Jillian Lucas Baker, MPH, DrPH '09, and Arvin Magusara, MPH '13, are featured in this year's edition of Drexel University's 40 Under 40 alumni in Drexel Magazine.
Baker, listed at #14, is an assistant professor of public health at LaSalle University. According to Baker, she was accepted into the first cohort of the School of Public Health's doctor of public health in community health and prevention program, which "provided me with a rich and strong foundation in the principles of community-based participatory research and human rights. The program equipped me with the skills to thrive professionally in an academic or research setting."
Magusara, listed at #21, earned his degree from the Executive MPH degree program at Drexel Sacramento in California. He is currently a senior analyst at Sutter Health in Sacramento.
"Drexel’s School of Public Health gave me the skills necessary to be effective in the field of health care administration, which is experiencing a turbulent time. It’s important to not only understand the business of health care, but also the issues affecting the quality of care patients receive through our health system," said Magusara. "With the perspective on public health I’ve gained at Drexel, my contribution to my work considers public health approaches to health management such as population health management and chronic disease surveillance."
