School of Public Health Welcomes New and Returning Students
September 25, 2013
The Drexel University School of Public Health welcomed back returning students, and officially welcomed new students for the first time at orientation recently. The incoming class is one of the most diverse classes, with approximately 50 percent of students identifying themselves as non-white.
This class also boasts a large contingency of students in the MS in Biostatistics and Executive MPH programs, as well as students in the PhD in Epidemiology, DrPH in Community Health & Prevention and joint MD/MPH and JD/MPH degree programs.
About 23 percent of the class consists of international students. From the U.S., 26 states are represented. The vast majority of the class is female.
The Executive MPH Program started classes in Philadelphia and Sacramento in late August.
The School of Public Health has seen exponential growth in its number of students, faculty and research grants in recent years. Accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, the School of Public Health is the only fully accredited school of public health in the Philadelphia region, and one of two in Pennsylvania.
The School of Public Health offers students the opportunity to receive a MPH degree in public health with a concentration in the one of the core areas of public health, including community health and prevention, epidemiology and biostatistics, environmental and occupational health and health management and policy.
Many of the faculty at the School of Public Health received their education from Ivy League institutions or other top schools of public health from across the country. Our faculty members have a wide variety of research interests, and students get the opportunity to collaborate closely with faculty and community partners on addressing many public health concerns.
Again, welcome all returning and new students!
