Genetic Testing and Counseling Among Medicaid-Enrolled Children with ASD

Drexel Autism Institute, and DrPH candidate in the Health Policy and Social Justice program, is the first author, with Dr. Craig Newschaffer, Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Director of the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute, as a coauthor on a new article in Human Genetics titled, “Genetic testing and genetic counseling among medicaid-enrolled children with autism spectrum disorder in 2001 and 2007.” 

The purpose of the study discussed in this article was to determine the frequency of use of genetic testing and counseling before the widespread implementation of clinical chromosomal microarray (CMA) to establish a baseline for the use of both services and to investigate potential disparities in the use of both services among children with autism spectrum disorder.
