$25,000 Gift Supports Scholarships for MFA in Creative Writing

Thanks to a recent gift from Robert “Rob” Silverman, BS ’69, Drexel’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program will be more accessible to the next generation of writers. The MFA program’s work toward fostering creativity and excellence in writing inspired Silverman’s gift, which pledges $25,000 over the next five years to fund MFA Merit Scholarships.

“This gift will help an emerging writer find their voice and ultimately place their work out in the world so that others can read it,” said Nomi Eve, program director.

According to Eve, gifts like this also elevate the profile of the MFA program by demonstrating that donors believe in its mission and students.

“Scholarships have a direct and lasting impact, not only on the students who receive them, but on the program itself,” Eve said. “We are so very grateful to Rob for seeing the value in our program."

Silverman is pleased to know that his gift will make a tangible difference in empowering emerging writers. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to support such an important mission and look forward to seeing how the program continues to thrive.”

Drexel's low-residency MFA in Creative Writing prides itself on being career-focused, providing students with a supportive community, sharpening their craft skills, and cultivating professional connections to help them succeed in the industry. Learn more about the program here.
