January 21, 2016

JJ Ramberg

MSNBC’s JJ Ramberg, host of “Your Business,” a television show dedicated to discussions about the issues affecting small business owners, will speak to Drexel University students on Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m.

During her talk at Drexel, Ramberg will share lessons learned from her 10 years of covering small business stories on her show. She will focus on what it takes to become an entrepreneur, the challenges small business owners face and how to overcome them to succeed.

“For anyone who dreams of starting a business, JJ Ramberg is an inspiration,” said Karen Curry, executive director of Drexel’s Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies in the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, a co-sponsor of the event. “She has gained unparalleled insight into what makes small businesses work, from the hundreds of entrepreneurs she has met on her show.  In addition to that, she herself is a successful entrepreneur who has combined her passion for philanthropy with her business savvy.”

Ramberg is the co-author of It’s Your Business: 183 Essential Tips That Will Transform Your Small Business. With advice from Ramberg and such notable entrepreneurs as Blake Mycoskie and Guy Kawasaki, the book covers topics from human resources to finance, public relations to sales, and more—all geared toward the small business owner.

As a leader in the small business field, Ramberg has been called upon to moderate town halls, including one during Washington, D.C.’s Small Business Week. She is a regular contributor to the “TODAY” show on small business and financial issues. Ramberg is MSNBC’s small business expert and occasional on-air anchor. She is also a financial columnist for Cookie magazine—Conde Nast’s parenting magazine—and has written columns on social entrepreneurship for Entrepreneur magazine.

The event will be held on Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in room 220 of Gerri C. LeBow Hall (3220 Market St.). A reception will follow. The event is sponsored by Drexel University’s Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies, LeBow College of Business, Close School of Entrepreneurship and the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design.
