MS in Health Informatics
The MS in Health Informatics (MSHI) program provides students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds with the knowledge and skills to use information technology efficiently and responsibly to improve health outcomes. Students graduate with an understanding of both information systems and healthcare that complements their prior education and experience.
A Growing Field
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has projected an increase of over 20% growth in health informatics job opportunities over the next decade. Both information professionals and health professionals can advance their careers through additional preparation in health informatics.
Quality Education for the Working Professional
The MSHI degree program is interdisciplinary in scope and draws on the strengths of several colleges at Drexel University, including the College of Nursing and Health Professions and Drexel University College of Medicine and the LeBow College of Business. Through a variety of lectures, assignments and readings, student work together to discuss solutions to key problems in the transformation of healthcare today. Faculty employ many different approaches to learning including group projects, online discussion and video presentation to achieve the intended learning outcomes. In addition to acquiring technical skills, students explore social and organizational aspects of health system implementation and engage with each other to appreciate the diverse perspectives that characterize healthcare today. A capstone experience enables students to use their knowledge before graduation. Graduates are prepared to work in informatics-related positions in primary and hospital care, industry, government and academia, and may complete their degree on a full- or part-time basis.
