Drexel CCI's Online Bachelor's Cybersecurity Degree Program is Ranked Number Two Globally

The College of Computing & Informatics' (CCI) online Bachelor of Science in Computing & Security Technology (CST) degree program was recently ranked number two of online bachelor's cybersecurity degrees worldwide by Cybersecurity Guide, an independent online resource produced by cybersecurity industry experts.

This is the first time Drexel University's online degree completion program in cybersecurity has ranked in the top 10 programs by Cybersecurity Guide. CCI's program was ranked second among 58 schools primarily due to positive student outcomes, including it's strong graduation rates and favorable student-faculty ratio, according to Chris Lenihan, head of marketing at Cybersecurity Guide.

Lenihan also added that Drexel’s designation as a “National Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity” by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Administration, an award Drexel has held for about 20 years, significantly increases Drexel’s ranking when compared to other schools.

The BS in Computing & Security Technology is offered as an online degree-completion program and as a face-to-face program; all CST students access to the same hands-on resources, including CCI's labs, servers and virtual environments. The CST program prepares students with the foundational knowledge necessary for cybersecurity and system administration. Upon graduation, students are equipped with a diverse skill set, incorporating areas like network security, cryptography, ethical hacking and incident response.

In addition, Drexel students of any major can enhance their knowledge by minoring in computing technology. CST Program Director and Teaching Professor Chris Carroll stated to The Triangle: “If you’re in another field, cybersecurity is really not a bad minor to take. Computers run the world now so if you understand the way computers work, it really helps you.”
