College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) BS in Data Science students Xiao Fang, Ziao You, Haoran Zhao and Yuhao Zhang, and PhD in Information Science student Alex Kalinowski recently placed in the Knowledge Base Construction from Pre-trained Language Models (LM-KBC) Challenge at the 21st International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2022).
The CCI student team, advised by CCI Associate Professor Yuan An, PhD, achieved third place overall and second place in their track, where participants were asked to build actual knowledge bases from language models, for given subjects and relations.
The students were invited to present their system and paper at ISWC 2022 — the premier international forum for the semantic Web and knowledge graph community. Held virtually via Hangzhou, China from Oct. 23 to 27, ISWC2022 will bring together researchers, practitioners and industry specialists to discuss, advance and shape the future of semantic technologies.
