College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) alumnus Aradhya Malhotra,
BS computer science ’13 was recently recognized in
Drexel Magazine’s “40 Under 40” — an annual feature that highlights some of Drexel’s most interesting, entrepreneurial and creative young graduates.
Malhotra was recognized with his two partners and fellow Drexel alumni, Christopher Bennett, BS business administration ’12 and Oleks Levtchenko, BS business administration ’12, as the trio behind
Skyless Game Studios.
Skyless Game Studios produces customized video games to benefit the greater good. Organizations, nonprofits and social enterprises around the world have hired Malhotra and his colleagues to produce games that fight corruption, encourage child welfare, improve multinational cultural relationships, and more — all “for a better tomorrow.”
The three co-founders, who all have had an interest in philanthropy since college, hatched the idea for the tech startup five years ago in Drexel’s
Baiada Institute for Entrepreneurship, part of the
Close School of Entrepreneurship.
Malhotra serves as director of technology of Skyless Game Studios, where his primary responsibility is to lead the design and production process of all projects in addition to managing the development team.
“I’ve done programming since I was 13,” Malhotra told
Drexel Magazine. “Video games were a perfect outlet for me.”
As a CCI student, Malhotra pursued concentrations in
video game development and
human computer interaction, as well as a minor in
information systems. Before co-founding Skyless Game Studios, he worked for Siemens Corporate Research for over two years as a software developer. His deep interest in international affairs led him to found the Drexel Model United Nations program in 2008.
Their recent project “
Follow the Money,” was developed for the Repatriation Group International, a nonprofit that helps developing countries fight corruption and financial crimes. In the game, users investigate a virtual crime and learn evidence gathering, asset forfeiture and more and are scored on the type of charges pursued and assets recovered.
