Drexel University’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) has strong representation at The 20th ACM Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW 2017) this year, which will be held in Portland, OR from February 25-March 1.
Drexel authors (in bold) will present four full papers, two of which earned best paper honorable mention.
1. Nazanin Andalibi (PhD student), Pinar Ozturk, Andrea Forte (associate professor). "Sensitive Self-disclosures, Responses, and Social Support on Instagram: the Case of #Depression."
Best Paper Honorable Mention.
2. Andrea Forte, Nazanin Andalibi, Rachel Greenstadt (associate professor). "Privacy, Anonymity, and Perceived Risk in Open Collaboration: A Study of Tor Users and Wikipedians."
Best Paper Honorable Mention.
3. Rachel Magee (PhD, information studies, ’15), Denise Agosto (professor), Andrea Forte. Four Factors that Regulate Teen Technology Use in Everyday Life.
4. Zhan Zhang (PhD student), Aleksandra Sarcevic (assistant professor), Claus Bossen. "Constructing Common Information Spaces across Distributed Emergency Medical Teams”
Aleksandra Sarcevic will also serve as a panelist for the CSCW Lasting Impact Award session, which is a plenary panel discussion of the work being honored. This year’s CSCW Lasting Impact Award will be presented to Paul Luff and Christian Heath for their CSCW 1998 paper, Mobility in Collaboration.
Several position papers will be presented at workshops:
1. Michael Dickard (PhD student) and Andrea Forte, “Temporal dimensions of boundary regulation in the context of reminiscence: Future considerations and ethical dilemmas.”
2. Kenneth B. Nimley (PhD student), Amira F. Kinlaw (undergraduate computer science student), Gabriela Marcu (assistant professor). “Reverberations of Trauma and Marginalization When Engaging in Community-Based Research with Criminalized Young Women of Color”
3. Eric Baumer and Andrea Forte. “Undoing the Privacy Paradox with Data Styles”
Several members of the CCI community have also contributed to the conference organization and review processes:
- Andrea Forte is co-chairing the Doctoral Colloquium.
- Gabriela Marcu and Kenneth Nimley are serving as Graphic Design and Webmastering Co-Chairs.
- Leah Kulp (PhD student) participated in the reviewer mentor program.
