The College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) at Drexel University celebrates National Library Week (April 9-15, 2017) with events in Philadelphia (live stream available) and in Washington, DC.
The College will kick off its National Library Week celebrations at noon on April 10 with a Drexel National Library Week Panel on the Future of Libraries event (Rush Building, room 014, 30 N. 33rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104). The event will feature lightning talks with some of the Philadelphia area’s top experts in the library and information science field, and will include a moderated discussion with the audience. Presented topics will broadly cover how libraries, researchers, professionals and communities are responding to today’s rapidly changing sociopolitical and technological landscapes. The panel will also be live streamed on YouTube.
On Tuesday, April 11 at 6 p.m., the College and the Washington D.C. Chapter of Special Libraries Association (DC/SLA) will co-host an evening program at the Drexel University Washington, DC Center (Lafayette Tower, 801 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006) titled “Applying AI in Education and Libraries on a Global Scale.” This event will cover the latest research in artificial intelligence (AI) and other technology within the context of improving education and libraries globally. With keynote speaker, Harri Ketamo, a 2017 Eisenhower Fellow from Finland and chief scientist and chairman of the board of HeadAI, this event will provide the audience with a greater understanding of the way libraries utilize technology as we become a more globalized society.
