CCI Faculty and Students Recognized at Drexel Authors Event

Five faculty members and students from the College of Computing & Informatics were honored at the fourth annual Celebrating Drexel Authors event on Apr. 27 at the A. J. Drexel Picture Gallery on Drexel’s University City Campus. Presented by the Office of the Provost and Drexel Libraries, the event serves to honor the University’s faculty, professional staff and students who wrote or edited publications that were issued in 2015. This year, the Celebrating Drexel Authors event honored 76 published authors and editors overall.

The following CCI faculty members and students were honored:

Assistant Professors Andrea Forte, PhD, and Kristene Unsworth, PhD
  • Urban Informatics: Collaboration at the Nexus of Policy, Technology and Design, People and Data
    Information shapes urban spaces in ways that most people rarely stop to consider. From data-driven planning to grassroots activism to influencing the routes we walk, bike and drive, new information technologies are helping city dwellers to leverage information in new ways. These technologies shape the uses and character of urban spaces. Information technologies and tools such as social media and GIS tracking applications are being used by individuals as they go about their daily lives, not as alternatives to social interaction, but as opportunities to participate in the shared experience of urban life.
