Drexel University College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) master of science in library and information science student
Jacqueline Presley is the recipient of the 2015
Bea Davis Education Award from the Philadelphia Regional Chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA-Phil), which is given to students pursuing a career in health science librarianship. Presley was honored by MLA-Phil members at a March 19 annual meeting held at the New Jersey Hospital Association in Princeton, NJ.
The $600 award is aimed at fostering and encouraging library students to pursue educational activities related to health sciences librarianship. These activities may include: formal course work in a degree program; a special program (e.g. workshop); or attending the Medical Library Association Annual Meeting.
The education award is named after Beatrice Davis, who was an active member of the Chapter and its president from 1980-81. Davis was not only a graduate of Drexel’s former College of Information Science and Technology (known today as CCI), but she also served on Drexel’s faculty. She was the Fellows’ Librarian at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia for the last 13 years of her career, which ended in the early 1980s.
