CCI Students Win Innovation Category at Microsoft Imagine Cup U.S. Finals, Proceed to World Finals

College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) undergraduate computer science students Ethan Keiser and Phuoc Phan, along with LeBow College of Business undergraduate marketing student Robyn Freedman, took their peer tutoring app, StudyTree, all the way from Drexel's Baiada Institute for Entrepreneurship to the last national round of the Microsoft Imagine Cup, an annual technology competition for college and high school students, in San Francisco on April 23.

After the pitching to judges at Thursday’s U.S. finals competition, the StudyTree team took home a $4,000 prize in winning the Innovation category. Now, the team will take their prize-winning app to the international stage in the Imagine Cup World Finals in Seattle from July 27–31, 2015.

StudyTree is a tutor “on demand” app, connecting peers on college campuses. It allows for easy transactions for student-to-student tutoring sessions and also provides a platform to allow universities to better track their tutors.
