Yonsei University has appointed College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) alumnus
Min Song, PhD, ’05 as Underwood Distinguished Professor, effective December 1, 2014. The Underwood Distinguished Professorship is a prestigious award that is given to a Yonsei faculty member who is internationally recognized for his or her research accomplishments. Recipients of the Underwood Distinguished Professorship are also granted financial incentives and reduced teaching loads. Currently there are only 24 faculty members at Yonsei University who have been appointed as Underwood Distinguished Professor.
Prior to joining Yonsei University’s faculty in spring 2012, Song served as a tenured associated professor at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and also worked at Thomson Scientific (now Thomson Reuters) where he developed knowledge management tools, middleware components and the search engine for a citation database. Song, who received his doctoral degree in information studies from CCI in 2005, was a student of CCI faculty member and director of the College’s doctoral program in information studies, Professor
Il-Yeol Song, PhD. He also holds a master of science degree from the School of Library and Information Science at Indiana University and a bachelor of arts degree from the Department of Library and Information Science at Yonsei University.
