At this year’s graduation ceremonies, many Drexel University graduating students take the time to decorate their commencement caps, putting their own unique spin on the standard navy blue cap that all graduates receive.
For the first time, these students had the time to use their arts and crafts skills to enter their graduation caps in a special Drexel Instagram contest. And they really went above and beyond in putting their own spin on their Drexel pride.
Using the #capcontest18 and #foreverdragons hashtags on Instagram, these Dragons uploaded pictures of their creativity. The judges voting on the caps included professional staff from the Office of the Provost, the Office of the University Registrar, the College of Computing & Informatics and Student Life and Finance and Administration in Enrollment Management and Student Success. The winning caps will receive Drexel swag as prizes.
The first-place winner was Elizabeth McDaniel, a BS/MS mechanical engineering student in the College of Engineering.
The second-place prize went to Ebony Ruiz, a general studies major with a focus in education in the Goodwin College of Professional Studies. Third place went to Devin Williams, a design and merchandising student in the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.
