The Leadership Conference Education Fund
Shauntay Nelson is the Wisconsin State Director with The Leadership Conference Education Fund. In less than 3 years, Shauntay Nelson worked to become one of Wisconsin's most well-respected Black Lobbyist. She has become a notable voice in policy and politics. She is, now, one of the state's c3 contacts for all things concerning voting. She is positioned where State Legislators work with her to draft legislation before introduction. She has tirelessly promoted expansion to the ballot box through voter education. She works to ensure citizens understand judicial ethics, fair maps, and rights restoration. She has accomplished this through policy, speaking at events, and other engagements around the city, state, and country. Shauntay was featured as one of the voices of influence during Governor Evers 2019 budget announcement. She is a strategist and a public policy guru in the voting rights field. She co-leads a statewide coalition in voting rights and is a sought-after speaker and panelist. She was one of the speakers for a TEDx Talk with Marquette University during their 2019 Community Engagement Symposium. She has worked to train other people of color to provide education around policy in WI, roles and responsibilities of elected officials, and how to convey effective public narrative when speaking with elected officials.
Shauntay has risen as a thought leader within her community. Nelson has been quoted by NPR, Urban Milwaukee, Milwaukee Community Journal, the Shepherd Express, and was a guest on Milwaukee PBS's Black Nouveau. She, now, provides strategic planning for non-profit organizations, community groups, and individuals through the city of Milwaukee.
