Yvonne Wood, of Lebanon, Tennessee is a founding member and is the former chair of the Tennessee Economic Council on Women, which ended in 2016. Wood was instrumental in the creation of the Council in 1998. She also chaired the Council's boards and Commissions Appointments Committee. She served on the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Memorial board. Wood was a member of the 2006 Leadership Nashville class and was appointed by the Governor to the Southern Regional Education Board in 2011. She also is past President of ATHENA International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women. She formerly served as associate director of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and director of the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation. Wood has also written and contributed to legislation making scholarships available to Tennessee's most talented students, and a law mandating a two step pay increase to employees who successfully complete the CPS exam. She was honored for her leadership and lifelong advocacy for women by Resolutions from the Tennessee General Assembly and the Nashville Metro Council. She holds a BS degree from University of Tennessee and a MEd from Vanderbilt University.
