Director of Community Centers and Programs
City of Monroe Louisiana
Patience Talley is the Director of Community Centers and Programs for the City of Monroe Louisiana. She manages and creates programs, policies and procedures for the seven community centers in her area. She is also on the steering committee of city leaders that are helping to build an early learning community for underprivileged children and families.
Her previous professional experience includes working as the Coordinator of Student Life and Spirit Groups for the University of Louisiana Monroe where she coached the ULM Cheerleading program to be named the 2020 Collegiate World Cup Champions in Orlando, Florida. In her role as coordinator, she also worked very closely with the athletic department and multisport game day operations.
Patience received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Louisiana State University where she also served as a student athlete cheering on the LSU Tigers from 2012-2015. She is a recent graduate of the Sports Management program at the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Her passion and interest include empowering women and minorities to reach their full potential and seek leadership in their communities. She is a member of the ULM Women’s Symposium board, which is an organization that seeks to empower, motivate, and encourage girls and women from all backgrounds and all educational and professional levels to pursue their passions and seek leadership roles in their desired career paths. As a Women’s Symposium board member, she serves as a liaison between the board and the students at ULM and helped establish the Empower Board to garner student involvement. She is also an active member of the Junior League of Monroe and currently serves on the committee that prepares provisional JLM members to enter into their active year prepared and ready to serve our community. Within her role in the Junior League of Monroe she has worked with programs to help mentor and foster relationships with children, support the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank, and encourage growth in the Northeast Louisiana economy. She is also a former Rotarian and currently acts as the ULM Rotaract Campus Advisor.
She is the wife of Pastor DeRon L. Talley and she enjoys serving the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church of West Monroe through ministry and song. She and her husband are the co-founders of Journey 4 Success, a non-profit organization designed to develop, inform and empower young adults and teens professionally and socially through providing resources that can guide them to success. She is a proud mother of one daughter Demi Lee and loves serving her community with her family.
