For over three decades Dawn Dyer has been passionate about the importance of housing stability for the health of communities, families, and individuals. Believing strongly in the inherent value of real estate, she began her career in 1985 and is actively involved in land use issues and housing advocacy throughout Southern California.
In 1997, Dawn co-founded Dyer Sheehan Group, Inc. (DSG), a boutique Real Estate Consulting and Brokerage firm specializing in land use consulting, project management, and development services. The firm also provides its clients with real estate market analysis and feasibility studies, and brokerage of investment properties and land for development. As a community leader, Dawn facilitates productive dialogue regarding land use planning, development, and affordable housing; helping builders, elected officials, and neighbors work together to create quality communities. DSG’s client list includes some of the nation's largest homebuilders, municipalities, school districts, and the University of California, as well as individual property owners and investors.
Ms. Dyer is a land use and apartment expert, having represented clients in the acquisition, disposition, and development of thousands of apartment units. Dawn authors a column for the Apartment Age magazine, a publication of the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles. Under her direction, DSG conducts a survey and analysis of local apartment markets, the results of which are published by the University of California Santa Barbara-Economic Forecast Project and are used by government agencies and employers to understand the cost and availability of workforce housing.
Dawn is the “Founding Mother” of the non-profit Ventura County Housing Trust Fund, which administers a multi-million-dollar revolving loan fund for the creation of affordable housing. An active volunteer, Dawn also serves on the Ventura County Continuum of Care Board and supports organizations like the Boys and Girls Club. She frequently speaks on real estate investment topics at various conferences, and has been a guest lecturer at UCLA and California Lutheran University.
Dawn is passionate about empowering women. In June 2014, Forbes magazine featured Dawn as one of seven California Women Business Leaders in their annual celebration of successful women. Ms. Dyer has been selected as the 2018 Woman Business Owner of the Year for NAWBO-Ventura County and is a finalist for WBO of the Year for NAWBO-California.
Dawn is married to the Love of her Life, is the mother of four successful grown children, and is looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild.
