Greetings and thank you for visiting the Admissions Blog!
I am an Admissions Counselor on the Undergraduate Admissions team and the representative for Staten Island and Southern California, specifically Orange County and San Diego. Here's a little bit of background about me!
West of Philadelphia born and raised…I grew up in Wayne, Pennsylvania. And after graduating high school, I started college in upstate New York, where I intended to pursue a major in biology and eventually become a doctor. After trying some college-level science courses, I came to terms with the fact that a career in the sciences was not my calling and pursued a bachelor's degree in psychology.
A monumental experience during my college years was the opportunity to work in the dean's office. In this role, I found a love of working with incoming first-year students as they adjusted to life on campus and helping current students find their way and navigate academic challenges.
After graduating college, I returned to Philadelphia to serve with CityYear, an AmeriCorps program, in a middle school classroom. This experience not only confirmed my passion to work in education from an administrative standpoint but to return to the classroom as a student myself. I went on to earn my master's in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania (right across the street from Drexel!).
I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to join Drexel's admissions team this past fall. It has been exhilarating to travel the country, near and far, to meet with prospective students like you and discuss the value of experiential learning, life as a student on campus, and what the city of Philadelphia has to offer.
If a visit to Drexel is bringing you to Philadelphia for the first time, let me suggest some of my favorite spots! If you're a foodie like myself, consider a visit to Reading Terminal Market which has tons of different food vendors with various types of cuisines and is home to the oldest ice cream company in the country — Bassetts (where my grandparents went on their first date!). If you are looking for a workout, consider running up the Art Museum steps (Rocky-style,) which our students like to sled down in the winter months! Or, if the weather is nice, to take a trip to Spruce Street Harbor Park and grab a hammock or sit by the water with some food truck grub.
When I'm not in the office, I'm likely in the kitchen whipping up a new recipe, walking Valley Forge Park or googling something — there's always more to learn!
I look forward to sharing more about Drexel University and the admissions process in my coming blog posts. Until then, peace from the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection!
