I’m Albert, pleasure to meet you!
March 24, 2017
Hello! My name is Albert and I am a sophomore at Drexel University. I am majoring in Architectural Engineering with a minor in Business Administration. I am from Seattle, Washington and went to a very small (60 students in the entire school, small) high school. As someone in the 5-year, 3 co-op program, I will be taking part in my first co-op this Spring where I will be working at Jacobs Engineering Group as a transportation engineer. To be honest, I don’t know where I will end up after graduation but I intend to spend at least one of my co-ops abroad, so the possibilities are really endless.
During my freshman year, I lived in Millennium Hall in the Honors Learning Community where I made some of my closest friends. I also joined Greek life last year being a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. Being a member of the Greek community has given me some of the most meaningful opportunities of my college experience as well as allowed me to develop as a student leader. When I’m not studying or spending time with friends you’ll probably find me at the Drexel Rec Center playing basketball.
A lot of people ask me why I decided to go to school across the country, because for some, the idea of being farther than an hour from home is pretty intimidating. I am very thankful that Drexel and Philadelphia in general were nothing but welcoming to me in almost every aspect of my life, which made the transition from 60 people in my school to almost double that in my first Chemistry lecture basically painless. I am also very grateful to have two parents who have been incredibly supportive to me even though I’m sure if they had it their way, I would still be in Seattle.
To make the most of my experience in Philly, I’ve tried to have a positive attitude and take advantage of every opportunity presented to me. While it sounds cliché, I learned really early on that your college experience is what you make of it.
Drexel offers such an expansive array of programs and is located in such a bustling city that I truly couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be for my college experience.
I’m excited to share my future experiences with you all and I hope I can shed some light on what it really is like to be a Drexel student.
