I'm the type of person who likes to know a little bit about everything. This means that I can sit with you and go over all of the application requirements for transfer admissions, pivot to a conversation about the concerning crack found in the Antarctica Glacier, and then nerd out about the upcoming films for 2017. I am passionate about higher education, devoting a large part of my adult life to helping students through the college application process. I am also passionate about Florence + the Machine, singing her songs at the top of my lungs in private or public. I can go over the difference in I-20 applications for a transfer student who needs a new visa and a transfer student who needs to transfer their SEVIS. I can also explain what shipping is (and no, not the kind that handles packages), and will be happy to talk at length about my favorite ships. All of this comes after years of education and general nerdiness.
I am passionate about higher education, devoting a large part of my adult life to helping students through the college application process.
After spending most of my childhood in Allentown, PA, I attended college in Lancaster, PA, and no, I did not spend 4 years with the Amish. Admittedly, I still have not been to Amish country, and stayed mostly within the confines of Lancaster city. I received a bachelor’s degree in English, and with a little hiccup called the Recession, I finally landed a job with the National College Advising Corps as a college adviser. For two years I helped high school students through the college application process. Unfortunately, this is only a two-year program, so I moved on to the college side of the higher education process, and started work at Drexel University in 2012 with the Transfer Admissions office. My favorite parts of my job are working with our transfer applicants and learning new things each day.
On the weekends, you can find me at any number of places: my apartment, snuggled up for a Netflix or book binge; out at one of my favorite restaurants in my West Philly neighborhood; checking out a museum or concert at any number of venues in the city; elbow deep in popcorn at the movie theatre; or out for a walk at Clark Park.
I approach each day at work with the goal to assist students as best as I can, and to push to find innovative ways to complete our admissions tasks in better and more efficient ways. I am happy to chat with you about the admissions process, and would be happy to give my opinions on the latest episode of "Sherlock." I hope to bring a little joy to you each month with my corny humor, and I hope to provide a little insight into our admissions world.
