My Journey to Drexel
February 15, 2017
My name is Michaela Schuster and I am a sophomore student here at Drexel University. I am currently majoring in Health Sciences and just declared a minor in anthropology. I am on the 4 year, 1 co-op cycle, occurring spring/summer of my junior year. With my major, I hope to attend graduate school to become a physician’s assistant, specifically in pediatrics. I am currently a Drexel Student Ambassador, a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, and a trip leader for a campus outdoors club called Weekend Warriors.
I am from a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania called Schuylkill Haven. Not only is it small, but it is very rural. Coming to Drexel was an extreme culture shock for me. I went from working on a fruit farm to spending months at a time in a big city. It was definitely a huge adjustment, but one of the best decisions of my life.
Drexel was my first and last college visit. After touring what felt like every school in Pennsylvania, I knew that Drexel was where I belonged. After being told by my guidance counselors and some teachers that my chances of getting accepted into Drexel were slim, my hopes for this school grew and I became motivated to become the student Drexel was looking for. I will never forget the feeling I had when I received a large envelope from Drexel, with a letter stating my dreams were coming true.
I can honestly say that my past two years here at Drexel have been the best of my entire life.
Not only is Drexel creating my path for a successful future, but it is also helping me become the best version of myself that I can possibly be. Between the education I am receiving and the extracurriculars I am involved in, I can honestly say Drexel has made me the person I am today.
I am excited to share more about my experiences here at Drexel University and hope that I can help guide prospective students to their successful futures.
