Lil' Uzi Vert, Royal Dragon, and Homecoming Court!

If you're like me, you're wondering who or what Lil' Uzi Vert is!? I ventured into the world of Lil' Uzi Vert this past weekend and so did hundreds of Drexel students who attended the Homecoming concert on Friday night! My introduction to Lil' Uzi Vert was not the only new experience for me. I have never been to a homecoming weekend, and I was intrigued to experience it for the first time. (Bear in mind, I'm more the John Denver and Kenny Rogers kind and my youngest son is a freshman in high school).

I was not disappointed! Students, faculty, and staff walked around with an air of excitement all week leading up to the weekend. Drexel doesn't have a football team, so our crowning sports event was the men's basketball game on Saturday against Charleston. Loss notwithstanding, our Dragons enjoyed quite the halftime show – the crowning of our Royal Dragon and Homecoming Court (formerly titled Homecoming King and Queen).

Traditions and school spirit go a long way in capturing the culture of a university. The diversity of programming this weekend revealed the true spirit of this place. From Greek tailgates to acapella showdowns, from guest lectures to window decorating competitions, there's really anything for everyone.

So, while I wasn't "pulling out the snapchats" at the Lil' Uzi Vert concert, I truly enjoyed my first homecoming!
