Events and Services

The strengths and resiliency of populations such as students of color add to the diverse culture of Drexel University. The Dragon Navigator Program is focused on building upon those strengths while also providing competence in new areas. There are regular events hosted for the program. Some are just for students to help them build a community and some will include our professional mentors so students can build their network.

Each new student will be matched with a mentor. Mentors are here to help you navigate the University and get you connected to the variety of resources offered at Drexel and within Philadelphia. Mentors can get you connected to resources that will get you closer to meeting your goals.

Through our partnership with the Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS), you will have access to academic coaches who can assist you with development and strengthening of skills that promote resilience, confidence, and self-directed learning. Academic coaches will work with you on topics related to being successful academically, including study skills, time management, navigating Drexel, organization skills, test-taking, etc. Learn more about academic coaching.

Leadership Development

We will be partnering with various offices and organizations on campus including the Steinbright Career Development Center and the Drexel University Black Alumni Council (DUBAC) to offer leadership development opportunities. These will be designed to empower you as a future leader.

General Programming

The events and activities hosted by the Navigator Program are designed to highlight the students we serve. The programming will connect you with other like-minded students, expose you to thinking critically and culturally, and inform you of important processes to keep you on the path of being a successful scholar. We host monthly meetings for students and peer mentors to connect as a group.

We want to be intentional in the programming offered to you. While there are events we coordinate with other offices, we are always encouraging feedback from you to ensure we meet your needs. Some of the programming done in the past include:

  • Resiliency Workshop
  • Goal Setting and Vision Setting
  • Financial and Money Management
  • Leadership Development Series
  • Race & Ethnicity Series
  • Finals Study Jams and Study Breaks
  • Movie Nights
  • Team Builders, including Escape the Room and tours led by Mural Arts Philadelphia!
