Travel Information for H1-B and O-1 Visa Holders

International Travel

H-1B or O-1 Employees

  • Valid passport (passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of intended return).
  • Valid (unexpired) U.S. visa stamp (page) in your passport.
  • Original valid Form I-797 H-1B or O-1 Notice of Approval.
  • Two to three most recent pay stubs, or letter from supervisor confirming continued employment.
  • Copy of I-129 petition.

H-4 or O-3 Dependents

  • Valid passport (passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of intended return).
  • Valid (unexpired) U.S. visa stamp (page) in your passport.
  • Copy of primary's I-797 H-1B or O-1 Notice of Approval.
  • If you status was changed to or extended to H-4 or O-3 status in the United States, you also need your original Form I-797 H-4 or O-3 Notice of Approval.

Traveling Within the United States

The ISSS office recommends that you always have your valid immigration documents when traveling. For travel inside the United States you should bring the following documents:

  • Valid, unexpired passport (expiration date at least six months into the future).
  • Valid, unexpired H-1B, H-4, O-1 or O-3 Notice of Approval.
  • Valid, unexpired I-94.
