Presented by Student Life, the Impact Awards honors Drexel Dragons who have made positive contributions to our Drexel community.

Student Life Impact Awards

Celebrated each spring, Impact Awards are presented to deserving candidates who meet the corresponding award criteria.

Nominations for 2024 will be accepted beginning on Monday, March 5 through Friday, April 5. All Drexel students, faculty, and professional staff are invited to submit candidates to be considered. Self-nominations are also accepted.

Award Descriptions

Chuck Vincent Servant Leader Award

This award is dedicated in honor of Chuck Vincent, COE Class of 1957, founding member of the Drexel Veterans Alumni Network, and supportive alumnus of the Office of Veteran Student Services and Drexel Veterans Association. It is given to a Drexel undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates exceptional leadership, participation, advocacy, and commitment to cultivating a military-friendly campus community. The recognition may be awarded to a student-veteran, military family member or dependent, or nonmilitary-affiliated supporter.

Collaborative Efforts Award

The Collaborative Efforts Award recognizes a co-sponsored program or initiative that demonstrates synergy and success as a result of working together.  This award celebrates student organizations that have made collaboration a top priority.  The recipients have demonstrated they can break down barriers between diverse student populations and foster greater communication between different organizations on campus.

Dean's Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service for Graduating Seniors

Presented to a graduating senior for outstanding leadership and service to Drexel's campus life and the surrounding community, while maintaining academic excellence exhibited by a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, this recognition includes a monetary scholarship award of up to $1,000.

Dr. Jacquelyn West-Ford Award for Civility, Humanitarianism and Social Justice

This award is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jacquelyn West-Ford (1960–2007), Senior Associate Dean of Students. It is presented to a Drexel undergraduate student who demonstrates exceptional leadership in cultivating civility and humanitarian efforts on campus and in the community through dedicated membership and contributions to religious and spiritual life and/or social justice organization.

Dragon Organization of the Year Award

The Dragon Organization of the Year Award recognizes a newly formed organization in good standing that has recently (within the last 18 months) gained recognition and has positively contributed to the Drexel community. This organization exemplifies significant efforts in building collaborative relationships with current organizations and meets a need at Drexel not met by another organization.

Drexel Muslim Students Association Karam Scholarship

The Drexel Muslim Students Association Karam Scholarship recognizes Drexel University undergraduate 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th-year full-time students who are active members of the Drexel Muslim Students Association (DMSA) for their outstanding, leadership and service reflective of the values of the DMSA mission. This scholarship is awarded to students who have shown perseverance, dedication, and alliance to the DMSA. The Karam Scholarship is designed to assist members and ease their financial strain during their college years. Up to two scholarships will be awarded each year. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship award of up to $1000.

Drexel University Black Alumni Council (DUBAC) Scholarship

The DUBAC Scholarship has been established to provide academic financial support for a Drexel undergraduate student leader demonstrating involvement in campus activities and excellence in academic performance. To be considered for this award, applicants must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship of $500.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Academic Excellence Award

This award is presented to a Fraternity or sorority chapter that has demonstrated the ability to perform, achieve, and excel in scholastic activities, to develop maximum intellectual capacities and skills, and to maintain an environment in which learning is fostered both inside and outside of the classroom.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Brotherhood and Sisterhood Award

The award recognizes a fraternity or sorority chapter that strives to uphold the feeling of kinship through actions that foster an environment of respect, support, and accountability, encouraging each member to work toward common goals based on a shared set of values.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Award 

The award is presented to a fraternity or sorority chapter that demonstrates their commitment to actions based on shared organizational values intended to elevate their organization, cause, or community to a higher level of excellence.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Service to the Community Award

The Service to the Community award recognizes a fraternity or sorority chapter that seeks to enhance the University and or surrounding global community by identifying and addressing issues of public concern through a balance of charitable fundraising, hands-on service, and responsible citizenship.

Graduate Student Leader of the Year Award

This award is presented to a graduate student who has exhibited outstanding leadership and vision and has exemplified dedicated involvement and commitment to making a difference in the lives of Drexel students. The recipient must be in good academic standing, demonstrated by a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

¡HOLA! Scholarship

The ¡HOLA! Scholarship has been established to provide academic financial support for a Drexel undergraduate student leader demonstrating involvement in campus activities focused on supporting Lantix and Hispanic communities, including but not limited to Latinos for a United Campus, ALPFA, and Prospanica, as well as excellence in academic performance. To be considered for this award, applicants must be an undergraduate student and have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA. This recognition includes a monetary scholarship of up to $500.

Outstanding New Program/Initiative of the Year Award

The New Initiative award recognizes an organization that implemented new initiatives or programs in the past year. This award will be given to recognize a new program or initiative created and implemented by a recognized student organization that contributed to the overall student experience.

The Outstanding Philanthropy/Service Event Award recognizes an organization that has held a successful philanthropy event that benefited either a local or national philanthropy/service organizations.

Outstanding Professional/Student Development Award 

The Professional/Student Development award recognizes an organization that serve the needs of its members through speakers, workshops, retreats, conferences, and other acts to continually educate its members. This organization values the development of all its members and actively works to create an environment that promotes learning and growth.

Rising Leader of the Year Award

This award is presented to an undergraduate student considered an emerging leader who has attended Drexel University for less than two years and has exemplified dedicated involvement and commitment to enhancing campus life. The recipient must be in good academic standing demonstrated by a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

This award is presented to a recognized student organization advisor who has served as an outstanding mentor, impacting the growth and development of student leaders and organization members.
