Economic Hardship

Economic Hardship is employment that may be granted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to address situations where a financial need beyond the student’s control arises, which was unforeseen at the time the student applied to the school they are currently attending and after all other potential employment opportunities have proven insufficient.

These situations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Substantial fluctuations in the value of currency or exchange rate
  • Unexpected changes in the financial condition of the student’s source of support
  • Medical bills
  • Other substantial and unexpected expenses

For further information regarding eligibility requirements and how to apply for economic hardship, please make an appointment to meet with an advisor at ISSS.
